WITH OPEN ARMS FOR AWARENESS

CELIAC DISEASE

On the 20th May, two monuments of Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer and the Cathedral Metropolitana of São Sebastião , received the green color in order to warn about the impact of the coeliac condition.

We want people to know what is gluten, we want people to understand about coeliac condition, so we can all be accepted, respected and integrated into the society.

Green symbolizes hope and health. Hope, because who is Celiac don’t give up fighting for the cause, don't give up the social inclusion and respect. Health, because from the moment the celiac discovers their diagnosis and follow a gluten-free diet, they have health, leaving behind the problems they had faced before.

Therefore, a live broadcast by the May Green instagram during the lighting ceremony took place, which was attended by the Coral Vocalizart, Alderman Thiago k. Rajan -author of the law that  enforces bars and restaurants to inform the presence of gluten in the food-and the priest Omar, Rector of the Shrine of Christ the Redeemer on the Corcovado.

"We had to overcome several obstacles to realize this dream. But for sure it was worth it, we were able to bring some celiacs to that historic moment. During our live stream, I received many reports of people thrilled with the event. " -claims Renata Macena, creator of the May Green campaign.

For Gustavo Negrini, Director of E4 and the campaign May green, opposite Renata Macena, celiac and chef de cuisine, it was a big challenge once they took the conversation with the Archdiocese to achieve project. "The support and involvement of all brands, which bring in their composition a food safe for who is Celiac, was also crucial to this achievement. For the Green May Campaign and all Celiacs of Brazil and the world, will be a milestone in history because it is a world growing movement " says Gustavo.

"Our action lighting up The Christ in green, wants to give visibility to the coeliac condition. We believe that the result of this campaign will be very positive and will reach many people who still have no diagnosis of the disease " — says Suzane Boyadjian, President of Acelbra-RJ, responsible, along with the May green, by the initiative of illumination of the Christ.

The date was chosen due to the Law responsible for the creation of National day of celiac disease is celebrated on this date (PL 6666/2016 Chamber of Deputies).

In the estate of Parana, the estate law to celebrate this date is already in place.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease, which means the body produces antibodies that attack the very tissues, which can affect several organs and unleash extradigestivas manifestations.

Normally, it is detected in children, but the symptoms can appear at any age.

In order to significantly increase the importance on the coeliac condition and its diagnosis, with the help of RJ and Acelbra May Green Campaign, this year, two monuments of enormous relevance of Rio de Janeiro will be lit in the 20th May for Celiac Cause.
